Houston, Texas (March 17, 2022)

The No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo GTD Pro team turned its first laps today in preparation for the 70th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented By Advance Auto Parts for the IMSA WeatherTech Championship race. The once-around-the-clock historic race will be held this Saturday, March 19, at the 3.74-mile, 17-turn Sebring, Florida road course.

Drivers for the Houston, Texas-based Risi Competizione Ferrari team for this year’s Sebring race include Ferrari factory GT drivers, Italian Davide Rigon and Brazilian Daniel Serra, along with first Risi drivers Italian Eddie Cheever III.

With three victories (2010, 2009, 2007) since Risi Competizione’s inaugural race in 1998 and 23 races over 17 years, the Ferrari teams boasts nine total podium finishes.

The three Risi drivers all have previously raced at Sebring with Serra competing twice and both Rigon and Cheever having a single race under their belt.

Davide Rigon, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“It’s very nice to be back here with the family of Team Risi. The first practice went well. It’s very warm here and we expect a warmer weekend. The car looks fine, but we still need to work a little bit. It’s very early to say something as far as where we are in the group. We need to focus on having a good balance for the race. We’ll continue to work with our engineer and the mechanics, and we’ll see.”

Daniel Serra, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“It’s great to be back for the second round of IMSA in Sebring. It’s a really nice track to drive. The challenge here is it’s always big with the bumps and the heat, as well as finishing the race in the night. Here, it’s darker than a lot of tracks. It’s a really nice race to be doing and I’m happy to be back with Risi. The first session was ok, and the car is feeling good. Let’s see what we can do for the rest of the weekend.”

Eddie Cheever III, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“I’m very happy to be here in Sebring at such an iconic track with Team Risi. It’s our first race together. I’m also super happy to be sharing the car with two super-fast drivers. The car was very good in the first session, just very hot. I can’t wait to be back in the car for more sessions and prepare for a good race.”

Sponsors for the 2022 season for Risi Competizione for the Rolex 24 include Pennzoil, Ferrari of Houston, 1st Phorm, Michelin, OMP Racing and Rotiform.

The schedule includes another practice session Friday morning, March 18 from 8:55-9:10 a.m. followed by qualifying from 9:20-9:35 a.m. for GTD Pro class.
